According to legend, the more than a thousand-year-old oak of Bolko is linked with the origins of the Polish State. It is believed that King Boleslaw Chrobry rested in the shadow of the tree during the campaign to Kiev in 1018. This majestic symbol of natural beauty is a source of pride for the region. The oak's name day party, known as Bolkowanie, is celebrated annually and attracts thousands of people to the municipality of Ruda-Huta, who admire the greatness and mightiness of this monumental tree.
